Black Sheep Awards

Black Sheep Brewery Awards

Here are some of the awards we won this year:

Morning Advertiser Great British Pub Suppliers Awards 2009 - North Regional Cask Beer Brand Award

Best Bitter

Black Sheep Best Bitter was selected as winner of the North Regional Cask Beer Brand category after the Morning Advertiser Magazine received over 10,000 votes from licensees in their survey - an overwhelming response. Customers were asked to describe their favourite suppliers based on the quality of their products and service.

The Publican Licensee’s Choice Awards 2009 – Gold Award for Cask Ale (4% and below)

Best Bitter

Black Sheep Best Bitter won the prestigious industry award for the ideal standard cask ale as voted by UK licensees in a survey commissioned by the Publican Magazine. For the 2009 market report, the extensive nationwide survey invited over 500 licensees to specify which brands they would stock if money were no option, and Black Sheep Best Bitter came out top, beating off competition from other national brands.

World Beer Awards 2009 – World’s Best Premium Bitter

Yorkshire Square Ale

The World’s Best Premium Bitter is officially made by Black Sheep Brewery after our recent award win for Yorkshire Square Ale. Crowned by an international panel of judges, Yorkshire Square Ale scooped the title in the final round of the annual competition hosted by Beers of the World Magazine.

Great Taste Awards 2009 – 2 star Gold Award

Riggwelter

Black Sheep Brewery was awarded a coveted 2 Star Gold Award for our popular Riggwelter ale at the Great Taste Awards. Organised by the Guild of Fine Foods, the awards recognise the craft and dedication that goes into making superb food and drink. Each award entry is blind tasted by teams of experts. By the time it earns gold it will have been assessed by three different teams.

Great Taste Awards 2009 - 1 star Gold Award

Riggwelter Plum Pudding

Black Sheep Brewery also scooped a Great Taste Award for Riggwelter plum pudding. Organised by the Guild of Fine Food and Drink, the awards are now in their 16th year and are the authoritative, independent standard in fine food. Winning a Great Taste Award is the drink equivalent to a Michelin star.

International Beer Challenge – Gold Award

Black Sheep Ale

Each year, the International Beer Challenge discovers and rewards the finest beers from across the globe. Black Sheep Ale was awarded a Gold Award at the event – the world’s largest packaged beer competition.

International Beer Challenge – Bronze Award

Riggwelter

Riggwelter also won a Bronze award at The International Beer Challenge. The event is judged by more than 30 industry experts, who blind taste 300 beers before awarding gold, silver and bronze medals.
